A tragic incident occurred on Easter Sunday as a three-year-old boy, Armani Deshawn Lyons, lost his life due to a gunshot wound to the head. The child was under the care of a 71-year-old babysitter when emergency services responded to a shooting report at an Atlanta apartment on April 5. Upon arrival, medical personnel pronounced the child dead after being transported to the hospital. The 71-year-old sitter has been arrested, while another suspect is still at large.
Homicide investigators have issued arrest warrants for the babysitter, Barbara Edwards, and another individual, Jermaine Hardeman, charging them with Felony Murder, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Cruelty to Children in the Second Degree. Barbara Edwards has been taken into custody, but Jermaine Hardeman remains at large.
A fundraising campaign has been initiated on GoFundMe to support Armani’s family in covering funeral expenses. The page highlights Armani’s vibrant personality, emphasizing his innocence and the joy he brought to those around him. Donations can be made to the GoFundMe page to assist the family during this difficult time.
