In a tragic incident, a 3-year-old boy passed away after he wandered away from his home during the night and was later discovered in a river.
The child, whose identity remains undisclosed, left his residence in the early hours of Monday, April 13, and was last sighted near a school around midnight. Authorities did not specify the name of the New London, Wisconsin, school where the boy was found.
He was located in the river at approximately 7:17 am local time on the same day and was taken to a medical facility where medical professionals confirmed his death. The duration the boy spent in the water was unknown, as per the police.
It was suspected that the young boy had strayed about four blocks from his home after his father’s last check on him around midnight. His disappearance was reported shortly before 5 am, and he was found a little over two hours later, then rushed to the hospital. By approximately 11:30 am local time, authorities announced the boy’s demise.
John Faucher, the proprietor of a local store, observed a significant police presence in New London, Wisconsin, following an Amber alert. He mentioned witnessing drones, numerous county and city law enforcement vehicles. Faucher indicated that there was substantial support from neighboring communities, particularly due to the proximity to the middle school.
The New London Police Department shared a post on Monday stating, “3 YEAR OLD BOY MISSING FROM 1000 BLOCK OF W BEACON AVE NEW LONDON, 3 FT TALL, BROWN HAIR, BROWN EYES, LAST SEEN WEARING ORANGE CHICAGO BEARS SHIRT AND DIAPER, LAST SEEN NEAR MIDDLE SCHOOL NEAR MIDNIGHT.”
In a subsequent update, the police force confirmed, “He has been located!! Thank you everyone for sharing.”
ABC2 reported that the child was discovered upstream, and the exact point of entry into the river was unclear. There were speculations that he might have entered the river near his home and was carried by the current.
Numerous residents took to the police force’s Facebook page to spread awareness about the missing boy. Some individuals claimed to have actively searched during the period when the boy was reported missing.
