Tesco is set to offer complimentary beverages and snacks in designated parking areas at selected stores this weekend. The initiative, known as Park & Pause, will be available in ten Tesco locations on Saturday, April 11. Visitors can enjoy a free Tesco Finest hot drink and a biscuit at these special bays.
The supermarket aims to provide customers with a moment of relaxation following the Easter period, citing research indicating that 42% of Brits seek solace by visiting the supermarket. Tesco representatives will distribute hot drinks to car windows at the Park & Pause spaces from 8am to 5pm, marked with a stopwatch symbol.
According to Tesco, parents with children under four are most likely to utilize a Tesco visit as a way to have some personal time, with 68% admitting to this compared to 38% of those without kids.
The Park & Pause initiative aligns with Tesco’s new campaign, “Need anything from Tesco?” This follows a recent incident in Kirkwall, Orkney, where Tesco gave away surplus bananas to local groups and schools after an accidental over-order of 380 boxes. The bananas were distributed in accordance with Tesco’s community policy.
Additionally, Tesco has implemented a pay raise for thousands of employees, with hourly wages increasing to £13.28 for shop workers and online fulfillment center staff. London-based employees now receive £14.55 per hour within the M25 area, thanks to a 5.1% wage increase.
The participating Tesco stores hosting Park & Pause spaces on April 11 include various locations across the UK.
