A 19-year-old teenager has stunned investigators with his chilling description of a brutal killing he allegedly committed. Lucas Sander Jones, 19, reportedly confessed in graphic detail to his girlfriend after the incident, stating, “I killed somebody and cut him up,” a statement crucial to the case against him.
The unsettling sequence of events unfolded on March 20 when the girlfriend visited Jones’ residence in Indialantic, Florida, and encountered a disturbing scene. Authorities found blood on the floor and walls, stains on Jones’ attire, and signs of cleanup efforts. The property also showed evidence of black spray paint usage.
During the encounter, Jones allegedly confessed that the victim, Colie Lee Daniel, 28, was targeted because of his status as a registered sex offender. An amended affidavit revealed that Jones had prepared a list of nearby sex offenders before the attack, hinting at premeditation.
Daniel, a convicted sex offender listed on the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s registry, was allegedly assaulted with a baseball bat and dismembered by Jones using various tools. Concerned about Daniel’s absence, his parents located him through a tracking feature on his device, leading them to Jones’ address.
Upon visiting the house, they were informed that Daniel was inside but refused to come out. Subsequently, the police were contacted, but initial attempts to access the property failed. Later, after authorities departed, Jones purportedly moved the remains in containers and a suitcase to a remote area known as “the Compound” in Palm Bay.
The discovery of human remains occurred when authorities responded to a report of vultures circling an abandoned suitcase. Inside, they found the remains along with items connecting the crime scene to Jones.
Initially detained for handling human remains, Jones was rearrested and charged with first-degree murder. He is currently held without bond as legal proceedings continue. Jones’ girlfriend altered her initial statement, providing a revised timeline of events and additional undisclosed details, including allegations of Jones retaining some of the victim’s blood.
