“Stay in a UFO at Melin Mabes Glamping Site!”

Date:

Driving through the rural landscapes of Pembrokeshire, if you come across what appears to be a spacecraft from another world, fear not. You haven’t stumbled into an alien invasion but instead discovered a one-of-a-kind Airbnb experience.

Nestled along a secluded country lane near the Welsh village of Templeton lies the Melin Mabes glamping site. Offering three distinct accommodations in a picturesque setting, guests can choose from a traditional caravan, a charming treehouse, or the most unique option – the Spodnic UFO. Originally constructed for the 2012 London Olympics to house generators, this galactic-themed pod was repurposed by the owners into a quirky staycation getaway, now available for booking on Airbnb or the Melin Mabes website.

Inside the UFO, guests are greeted with silver walls adorned with sci-fi memorabilia, creating a futuristic atmosphere. The pod features a double bed, bunk beds for additional guests, and even an inflatable alien for company. A central ladder leads to a platform with a glass dome, perfect for stargazing or admiring the scenic views of the Welsh countryside. Outside, a covered kitchen area equipped with essential amenities like a fridge, cooker, and running water, as well as a dining space, ensures a comfortable stay.

One of the highlights of the pod is its bathroom, cleverly designed as a replica TARDIS box, complete with a private shower, toilet, and sink, offering convenience and privacy. Adjacent to the UFO is a private hot tub and outdoor shower, set within an enclosed outdoor space where guests can bring their furry companions along for a playful romp.

Just a short distance away from the village, guests can explore local attractions such as a cozy pub and cottages. Nearby, the Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo offers a family-friendly experience with fairground rides, a zoo, farm animals, and various play activities. Accommodation options at Folly Farm include lodges and glamping, with guests enjoying unlimited free access to the attractions during their stay.

A brief 15-minute drive leads to Saundersfoot Beach, a pristine Blue Flag beach known for its soft sand and shallow waters, ideal for family outings. The beach features a working harbor and a historic lighthouse, providing a picturesque backdrop for visitors. Seafood enthusiasts can savor freshly caught delicacies at local restaurants near the bustling harbor.
