Former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova has received a four-year suspension from professional tennis for declining a doping test in December. The ex-world No.6 expressed her dismay on Instagram when a doping control officer showed up at her residence for an out-of-competition test, deeming it a significant invasion of privacy.
Vondrousova, who claimed the Wimbledon title in 2023, viewed the incident as a severe breach of her personal space. In a recent statement, the Olympic silver medalist revealed feeling overwhelmed and fearful due to an unannounced visit late at night without proper identification or adherence to protocol. She emphasized that her refusal was not to evade the test but out of concern for her safety.

In a statement released by the ITIA, it was announced that an independent tribunal had suspended Czech tennis player Marketa Vondrousova for four years for declining an anti-doping test in December 2025. Vondrousova failed to provide a sample during an out-of-competition test at her home on December 3, 2025, at around 8 pm, as required by anti-doping regulations.
ITIA CEO Karen Moorhouse emphasized the importance of fair competition and player safety during the testing process. She acknowledged the challenges faced by players but stressed the necessity of upholding anti-doping measures to ensure clean sport. Moorhouse highlighted the rigorous training and professionalism of the testing personnel and the critical role of unpredictable testing in maintaining integrity in sports.

The doping control officer’s testimony was also considered by the tribunal, which ultimately found no compelling justification for her refusal.
