A California teacher, Cole Allen, is facing charges for an alleged attempt to harm President Donald Trump during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington DC. The incident led to Trump and other officials being evacuated as Allen reportedly breached security and fired shots in the building’s foyer.
Allen, a part-time tutor and games developer, was apprehended at the scene and is set to be formally charged in a Washington court. Prior to the attack, Allen had expressed disdain for Trump and his administration on social media platforms, referring to the president as a “sociopathic mob boss” and a “satanic idolator.”
In his online posts under the username ‘Coldforce,’ Allen criticized Trump and Vice President JD Vance, calling them derogatory names and condemning their policies. He also questioned the authenticity of individuals claiming to be Christian while supporting Trump’s controversial actions.
Authorities revealed that Allen traveled from California to Washington via Chicago before the incident and checked into the hotel hosting the gala dinner. The attack was thwarted by Secret Service personnel as Allen attempted to charge towards the ballroom, resulting in a physical confrontation and shots being fired.
Following the incident, Trump emphasized the need for enhanced security measures at the White House, suggesting the construction of a “Militarily Top Secret Ballroom” in the East Wing to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
