The father of a teenage girl who was fatally attacked by the family dog in Essex pleaded with the police to euthanize the pet. Jack Biscoe, the father of 19-year-old Jamie-Lea Biscoe, requested that their dog, named Shy, be put down following the tragic incident at their home in Leaden Roding. Upon his return, Jack discovered his daughter with a neck bite from the dog. The authorities were informed of his plea to euthanize the animal.
The dog involved in the attack was identified as a female blue-merle Lurcher-cross, although authorities were conducting tests to confirm its breed. Essex Police seized Shy along with two other dogs in the household, believed to be the puppies of the aggressor dog. Jack expressed concerns about the puppies witnessing the incident and doubted their suitability for adoption.
Describing Shy as a gentle pet that was his daughter’s companion, Jack expressed disbelief at the tragic turn of events. Despite Shy’s lack of history with aggression, the father emphasized his belief that the dog should not be allowed to live after the fatal attack. A man, presumably Jack, was arrested on suspicion of being responsible for a dog causing fatal injuries and was later released on bail as investigations continued.
Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper of Essex Police extended sympathies to the family and emphasized ongoing efforts to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident. Community members were urged to share any relevant information or concerns with the investigating officers.
