Date:

A tragic incident unfolded as a 77-year-old woman lost her life in a collision with a lorry, leading to her body being discovered miles away after being transported by the vehicle, according to authorities.

The West Yorkshire Police revealed that the woman was hit by an HGV on Harrogate Road in Bradford at 5:35 pm BST on Wednesday. Shortly after, reports emerged that the woman’s body was located on Neville Road in East Bowling, over three miles from the initial collision site.

Tragically, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Following the incident, a 55-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving but has been released on bail as investigations continue.

A police spokesperson stated, “Based on our investigations, it appears that the woman was carried to Neville Road by the vehicle involved in the collision. Subsequently, reports came in regarding the discovery of a body at that location. A 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed for further inquiries.”

Detective Inspector Paul Conroy commented, “This is a distressing incident involving an elderly pedestrian in Bradford. Our sympathies are with the family, who are receiving support from specialized officers.”

Authorities are urging individuals who were in the vicinity of Harrogate Road or Killinghall Road, or those with dashcam footage of the HGV or pedestrian at the traffic lights, to come forward.

In particular, officers are seeking information from the drivers of a red Ford Max, grey Skoda SUV, silver Toyota, and white SUV, as well as anyone who witnessed the HGV heading towards Neville Road.
