A British man has been condemned as a “monster” by the Department of Homeland Security in the U.S. after a violent spree that resulted in the deaths of three individuals. Olaolukitan Adon Abel, hailing from London, is embroiled in a heated immigration controversy following the Trump administration’s inquiries into his residency in the country. Among the victims was a federal government worker who was fatally shot and stabbed while out walking her dog. Abel, aged 26, was apprehended on Monday after carrying out what authorities described as a series of unprovoked assaults in DeKalb County, Atlanta.
The Department of Homeland Security denounced Abel as a “MONSTER,” emphasizing his random killing of three people, including DHS employee Lauren Bullis, who was violently attacked while walking her dog. The agency vowed to relentlessly combat such threats under President Trump’s leadership. Abel now faces charges of multiple murders, aggravated assault, and weapon offenses, although authorities have confirmed only two deaths, with the third victim sustaining serious injuries.
Born in Camden with relatives in the U.S., Abel is identified by the Department of Homeland Security as a repeat offender with a lengthy criminal past. He obtained U.S. citizenship in 2022 under the Biden administration, sparking intense scrutiny from the Trump White House. One of the deceased, 40-year-old Lauren Bullis, was a Department of Homeland Security employee. Eyewitnesses recounted hearing gunshots and discovering Bullis wounded before the suspect fled the scene.
In addition to being shot, Bullis was also stabbed, leaving her family grieving the loss of a cherished individual. Homeland Secretary Markwayne Mullin confirmed her identity, condemning the tragic events and expressing sympathy for the victims’ families. Brookhaven Police Chief Brandon Gurley revealed that there seemed to be no connections between the victims, indicating a random attack.
After tracking Abel using license plate recognition to locate his vehicle, authorities piled charges against him, including murder, aggravated assault, and weapon violations. Further charges may be added as the investigation progresses. The identities of the other victims have not been disclosed, and investigators have not determined a motive behind the attacks or the selection of victims and locations by the suspect.
Abel’s criminal background came under scrutiny post-arrest, revealing prior convictions including felony assault in San Diego and arrests for sexual offenses in Georgia. He remains in custody pending further investigation, with no court appearance date set yet. The investigation continues to unfold.
