“British Expat Reveals Surprising Insights on Life in Australia”

Date:

A British expat who relocated to Australia shared insights into five aspects often overlooked by newcomers to the country.

In 2021, Cat Scully, 31, sought a more balanced work-life environment and embraced the outdoor lifestyle by moving from Newcastle to Australia. After exploring Western Australia, she settled in Perth for its relaxed atmosphere and diverse surroundings encompassing white-sand beaches, rolling hills, and urban conveniences.

Five years post the significant relocation, Cat has acclimatized to her new life and obtained Australian citizenship. Together with her husband, she enjoys beach evenings and weekend adventures exploring the region.

Despite the challenges of uprooting her life and moving across the globe, Cat shared unexpected observations post-relocation with 1st Move International, specialists in moving to Australia. She mentioned adapting to becoming a morning person due to the early starts prevalent in social plans Down Under.

Cat highlighted the variety of coffee options available for those early mornings, inadvertently turning expats into discerning coffee enthusiasts. She noted the quality and affordability of coffee in Australia compared to the UK, leading to a higher standard of coffee expectations.

The abundance of avocados in Australia, particularly their availability at reasonable prices, impressed Cat as a notable feature of her new lifestyle. She expressed delight at the prevalence of avocados in the country, often featured on breakfast menus and offered at a lower cost compared to the UK.

In contrast to the dark and gloomy UK winters, Cat emphasized the enhanced utilization of evenings and weekends in Australia. She described the norm of heading to the beach for sunsets after work, enjoying alfresco dining, riverside runs, or spontaneous weekend trips into the bush, showcasing a different approach to time management.

Reflecting on her new life, Cat remarked on the transformative impact of the outdoor-oriented Australian lifestyle, contrasting it with the fast-paced UK routine she now finds distant and unfamiliar.

Through her YouTube channel, Cat chronicles her experiences in Australia, providing insights into life on the other side of the world and sharing weekend excursions to destinations like Fremantle and Melbourne.
