Police apprehended a man accused of sexually assaulting a British female tourist and violently robbing an elderly UK couple on the same day. The alleged assailant reportedly used a martial arts technique known as a rear naked choke, leaving the woman partially unconscious in the southern region of Tenerife. Taking advantage of the secluded location, the suspect attacked the woman after offering to help her retrieve a lost mobile phone.
On the same day, the suspect purportedly assaulted an 89-year-old British man and his 79-year-old wife, resulting in both victims being hospitalized due to the violent nature of the attacks. Additionally, the suspect has been connected to another incident where a Swedish tourist was forcefully grabbed by the neck and had her necklace forcibly removed.
The Spanish National Police disclosed the arrest, stating that the suspect was apprehended for a sexual assault crime and two violent robberies in southern Tenerife. The initial incident occurred in late March in Las Veronicas, Playa de las Américas, with the victim providing crucial images of the suspect to aid the investigation.
Authorities were also investigating two other violent robbery cases in the Arona municipality, one occurring on the same day as the alleged sexual assault and another three days earlier. Descriptions of the suspect, the locations of the incidents, and the level of violence used in the crimes aligned in both cases, which involved an elderly couple being targeted for robbery.
In one of the robberies, the assailant attempted to steal a watch from the man, leading to a physical altercation that ended with the watch being thrown into bushes by the man’s wife to prevent theft. This action further incited the attacker, who proceeded to assault both victims before seizing a bag containing their shopping items. A witness captured a photograph of the suspect, aiding in the swift arrest made on March 27.
