A man has gone missing after encountering difficulties in the water at a beach in Cornwall. The HM Coastguard received a distress call regarding the man at Polzeath on Sunday, April 19. Teams from Polzeath and Bostcastle Coastguard Rescue, an HM Coastguard Helicopter, and RNLI lifeboats from Padstow and Rock were swiftly dispatched to Greenaway beach at 4:35 pm.
According to Devon and Cornwall Police, the man is still unaccounted for, and search efforts are ongoing in the vicinity. Another individual was also reported to have entered the water but managed to return safely to shore.
An HM Coastguard spokesperson stated, “A distress call was received at approximately 4:35 pm on April 19 concerning a man in the water near Greenaway beach, Polzeath. HM Coastguard mobilized Polzeath and Boscastle Coastguard Rescue Teams, an HM Coastguard Helicopter, and RNLI lifeboats from Padstow and Rock.”
The Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson mentioned, “We were alerted by the Coastguard on the afternoon of Sunday, April 19, following a report of a man facing difficulties in the water near Greenaway Beach, Polzeath. The individual is still missing, and search operations are underway in the area.”
