Growing up in a charming UK coastal town filled with historical landmarks and a vibrant community was a significant part of my early years. Clevedon, nestled in North Somerset, offered a picturesque setting with its iconic Victorian pier, infinity pool, and renowned cinema.
The town, known for its rich history and independent spirit, has been a popular filming location for various productions and has attracted celebrities like the members of One Direction. From childhood days spent at the seafront promenade to exploring the local leisure center and enjoying the green spaces, Clevedon held a special place in my heart.
As I transitioned into adulthood, evenings in Clevedon meant visits to quaint pubs like the Little Harp Inn and The Salthouse before heading to the local club, Vibe. The town’s proximity to Bristol and easy access to transportation hubs like Yatton train station made it convenient to explore nearby cities like Bath.
While I may have moved away from Clevedon, it remains a favorite destination for me, offering a mix of attractions from the expansive beach and the unique seawater infinity pool to the majestic Victorian pier. The pier, adorned with thousands of brass plaques, has been a beloved landmark, drawing praise from notable figures like Sir John Betjeman.
Clevedon’s allure extends beyond its natural beauty, as it has served as a backdrop for film and television projects, including Broadchurch and Never Let Me Go. The town’s Hill Road boasts a variety of independent shops and cozy cafes, making it a delightful spot for leisurely strolls and shopping excursions.
For those seeking a traditional British seaside experience, Clevedon is a must-visit destination offering a blend of history, charm, and entertainment. Whether it’s exploring the historic cinema, indulging in local delicacies, or simply enjoying the coastal ambiance, Clevedon promises a memorable experience for visitors of all ages.
