UK Braces for Arctic Cold Snap: Temps to Plummet

Date:

New weather reports indicate that the UK is preparing for a period of cold weather this month. The latest weather maps suggest that temperatures will drop below freezing in various regions, with projections showing temperatures potentially falling below 0C on April 25 and 26, especially in the northern parts of the country.

Scotland and northwest England are expected to be the most affected by the upcoming cold spell. In Scotland, temperatures could plummet to -4C in cities like Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Dundee. Meanwhile, cities in northern England such as Newcastle, Blackpool, and Manchester may experience cold spells as low as -3C. Other regions in England, including the Midlands and the North East, are also predicted to face chilly conditions, with temperatures slightly below freezing.

According to the Met Office weather forecast for April 18 to April 27, there will be a few showers in the northwest at the beginning of the period, with some windy conditions. The weekend is expected to be dry with warm sunshine, though nights will remain cold. In the following week, rain is more likely in western areas, while northern and eastern regions are anticipated to have dry weather, with temperatures staying above average.

The Express has listed eight places that are expected to be the coldest during the upcoming Arctic snap, including Dundee in Scotland and Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, England. However, before the cold weather sets in, temperatures are forecasted to exceed 20C in certain parts of the UK, such as Canterbury, Kent, due to warm air moving north from Europe.
