“Coachella 2026: Music, Pricey Eats Spark Debate”

Date:

Coachella 2026 is well underway, celebrating its 25th year. The first weekend, held from April 10–12, has just concluded, with the second weekend scheduled for April 17–19 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. This year’s lineup features a mix of global superstars and iconic performances. Sabrina Carpenter kicked off the festival with a high-energy performance on Friday, while Justin Bieber made a notable return on Saturday with new music.

Karol G made history on Sunday as the first Latina artist to headline at Coachella. Attendees typically pay between $549 (£410) and $649 (£483) for general admission passes. Despite the significant costs already incurred, some guests are criticizing the exorbitant prices for food at the event.

One festival attendee shared her experience of paying $23 (£17) for noodles and $28 (£21) for carne asada fries. Although she praised the food quality, others expressed dismay in the comments section, with one individual stating they have no interest in attending such events.

Influencer ‘Jacks Dining Room’ highlighted the expensive food offerings at Coachella, including a $20 trio of tacos and a $150 (£112) burger and caviar fries. LA-based restaurant Sweetfin offered poke bowls at $23 each, featuring options like spicy tuna and yuzu salmon.

Meanwhile, Dave’s Hot Chicken served a chicken sandwich with fries for $30 (£22), with tenders and fries costing $26. Basic plain fries were priced at $12 (£9). Even pizza options were deemed overpriced, with one festival-goer spending $41 (£31) on two slices and a can of Coke, describing it as a disappointing experience.

Even visitors who brought their own food found themselves spending money, as one woman disclosed spending $50 (£37) on three coffees. If you’re planning to attend Coachella, financial preparation is essential.

Sweetfin and Dave’s Hot Chicken have been approached for comments.
