Multiple individuals have been swiftly transported to medical facilities following a vehicle crashing into a bustling pub.
The distressing incident occurred at Murphy’s Irish Pub’s outdoor patio, situated at the intersection of Pacific Avenue and 30th Street within the Oceanfront area, around 7:45 pm on Friday, as confirmed by Virginia Beach Police.
A police representative mentioned that the injured parties were quickly taken to nearby hospitals, with injuries ranging from severe to minor, as reported by WAVY TV 10, the NBC affiliate serving the Norfolk, Virginia, television market.
Witnessed images depict the vehicle veering onto the pavement and demolishing the pub’s outdoor seating area fence.
Daniel Auxier, a valet worker across the street, recounted hearing screeching tires before witnessing the chaos unfold. Auxier was astonished by the events, stating, “I witnessed bricks and smoke flying into the air. People were in a panic, screaming. I noticed the passenger exiting and sitting down, remaining seated since then.”
Auxier noted that the patio at Murphy’s was densely packed at the time of the collision.
In response to inquiries from The Mirror, the Virginia Beach Police department stated, “At approximately 7:54 p.m., The Emergency Communications and Citizen Services (ECCS) received a report of a crash involving pedestrians in the 2900 block of Pacific Ave. VBPD officers arrived on scene and located multiple victims. The victims were taken to area hospitals with injuries ranging from non-life-threatening to life-threatening. This is an active scene, and the investigation is ongoing.”
The cause of the crash remains unclear, and any potential arrests have not been confirmed.
