President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iran, cautioning the country about the potential consequences of not reaching an agreement with the US, including a “nuclear holocaust.” This statement came shortly after Trump expressed optimism about achieving peace during his interaction with journalists before departing for Las Vegas aboard Marine One.
The President emphasized the close proximity to finalizing a deal with Iran and highlighted the positive outcomes such an agreement could bring, such as a decrease in oil prices, inflation, and most importantly, averting a nuclear catastrophe.
Meanwhile, reports surfaced indicating that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a ceasefire following a period of intense back-and-forth attacks and an Israeli bombing campaign resulting in over 2,100 casualties in Lebanon. Trump disclosed the commencement time of the 10-day ceasefire, attributing the success to his efforts and interactions with the leaders of both nations.
The ceasefire pact between Israel and Lebanon holds significant implications for the broader peace discussions involving the US and Iran. Notably, Iran had made it clear that a ceasefire in Lebanon was a prerequisite for any successful negotiations with the US.
