President Donald Trump has removed Vice President JD Vance from the team tasked with negotiating a peace agreement with Iran. Trump has issued a warning that the entire country of Iran could face destruction if a peace deal is not reached.
Trump explained to The Weekend that Vance will not be participating in the talks in Islamabad due to security concerns. The delegation will now be overseen by Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner.
Speaking to Fox News, the president disclosed that the delegation will be traveling to Islamabad for discussions scheduled for Tuesday, potentially extending into Wednesday.
Trump emphasized that the upcoming negotiations represent Iran’s final opportunity to sign the deal. He stated, “If Iran does not agree to this pact, the entire nation is at risk of destruction.”
This development follows Trump’s recent threat to dismantle all power plants and bridges in Iran in a provocative post on Truth Social.
The US president accused Iran of breaching the ceasefire agreement after reports emerged of Iranian gunboats firing on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran had announced the closure of this vital waterway while the US continued to block Iranian ports.
In another post, Trump urged Iran to accept a deal during the upcoming peace talks in Islamabad. Failure to comply, he warned, would result in the destruction of “every single Power Plant, and every single Bridge, in Iran.”
In a forceful declaration, Trump asserted, “NO MORE MR. NICE GUY! They’ll come down fast, they’ll come down easy and, if they don’t take the DEAL.”
This is not the first instance of Trump threatening to target power plants in Iran. He previously made similar remarks in a controversial post on Truth Social on April 5, before the ceasefire agreement, warning of targeted actions against Iran’s infrastructure.
Trump’s rhetoric escalated as he stated, “There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F**kin’ Strait, you crazy b*stards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH!”
These statements were made just before the ceasefire agreement, where Trump also warned that “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.”
