Canadian actor Simu Liu, known for his role in Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” has recently married Allison Hsu, a music industry executive. The wedding took place over the weekend as confirmed by Liu’s publicist to CBC News on Tuesday. The festivities were first reported by TMZ in France.
The couple publicly announced their engagement in May 2025 during a trip to Paris, followed by sharing images from wedding-related events in Mexico and a visit to Paris on social media. They have been open about their relationship, regularly posting about each other on social platforms, with Liu mentioning their bond in interviews.
Liu, originally from China and raised in Toronto, is set to reprise his role as Shang-Chi in the upcoming Marvel film “Avengers: Doomsday.” His portrayal of Shang-Chi has brought him international recognition, following his success in the CBC comedy “Kim’s Convenience.” The actor has also taken on various projects recently, such as appearing in “Barbie” as Ken, voice roles in “In Your Dreams,” and starring in “The Copenhagen Test.”
Additionally, Liu returned to his theater roots with a role in the Tony-winning comedy “Oh, Mary!” earlier this year, marking his Broadway debut. In a recent interview, Liu discussed the need for more Asian representation in leading roles in Hollywood, criticizing the industry’s traditional and conservative mindset towards new talent.
