Selma Blair’s Team Clarifies Arrest Incident

Date:

Selma Blair’s team has addressed the recent incident involving the actor’s arrest following an alleged mid-flight altercation on October 11. A statement to CBC News from Blair’s representative highlighted that the public narrative surrounding the incident has predominantly relied on a police statement and a headline from ten years ago.

The actor faced charges after being accused of causing harm to two flight attendants during a flight from Los Angeles to New York. Additionally, she was charged with assaulting a police officer during transportation to the hospital and a nurse upon arrival.

Blair’s representative emphasized the importance of fair reporting and clarified certain points already circulating in the public domain. The actor appeared in court on October 12, entering a not guilty plea to two counts of second-degree assault before being released on bail.

The statement further explained that Blair experienced a medical emergency during the flight and clarified that there was no attempt to open the aircraft door, asserting that Blair did not have any intention to harm anyone. The representative detailed an account of the incident involving a police officer and a nurse, attributing Blair’s actions to a medical episode related to her multiple sclerosis diagnosis.

Addressing comments around Blair’s health condition, the representative rebutted any suggestions that she does not have multiple sclerosis, emphasizing the public nature of her diagnosis since 2018. The statement shed light on Blair’s ongoing physical challenges, including her daily struggle with pain and pseudobulbar affect, a neurological condition linked to her MS.

Moreover, the statement highlighted Blair’s advocacy work for disability rights, the MS community, and her recent efforts within the Jewish community. It was noted that Blair had not been previously arrested before the recent incident.

Blair, known for her roles in films such as Cruel Intentions, Legally Blonde, and Hellboy, has maintained a lower profile in Hollywood but participated in Dancing With the Stars in 2022. She is also slated to appear in the upcoming supernatural thriller Silent.

In conclusion, Blair’s spokesperson urged a comprehensive consideration of all facts before passing judgment, both in legal proceedings and public opinion.
