“Ryanair to close check-in services 60 minutes before takeoff”

Date:

Ryanair has announced changes to its luggage rules, with all check-in and bag drop services at its operating airports closing 60 minutes before scheduled departure starting from November 10. This adjustment aims to provide passengers with more time to navigate airport security and passport queues, reducing the number of individuals missing their flights due to delays in these areas.

This modification gives the 20% of Ryanair travelers who check bags additional time to pass through airport procedures and reach their departure gates before boarding commences. Furthermore, Ryanair is actively installing more self-service bag-drop kiosks, aiming for 95% of its airports to have them in place by October.

Dara Brady, Ryanair’s Chief Marketing Officer, stated that this change would benefit customers by allowing more time to clear security and passport checks, especially during peak travel times. The installation of self-service kiosks at the majority of airports will streamline the bag-drop process, providing a more efficient service for those checking bags.

Recently, passengers using Ryanair have faced delays due to the new Entry/Exit System (EES) implemented at European airports, causing extended queues and missed flights in some cases. EES mandates non-EU nationals, including British citizens, to register biometric data such as facial scans and fingerprints for border crossings within the Schengen Area.

Following issues at Milan Bergamo airport, Ryanair assured that passengers arriving at the boarding gate desk before closure would have been accommodated on their flights.
