New data has unveiled the areas with the highest delays in Royal Mail’s first-class post service.
Royal Mail aims to achieve a 90% next-day delivery rate for first-class post but is falling short in all 124 postcodes throughout the UK.
The most impacted regions have a service level below 70%, with Paisley near Glasgow ranking lowest, delivering only 62.7% of first-class post on time.
Other heavily affected areas include Blackburn and Burnley, Hull, Teesside, Stockport, Oxford, Ilford, Croydon, Newport, and Maidstone.

Despite the recent increase in the first-class stamp price to £1.80, a significant rise from the 64p cost in 2016, Royal Mail is facing penalties for failing to meet delivery targets.
Last October, Ofcom fined Royal Mail a record £21 million for missing delivery goals, as it achieved only 77% on-time delivery for first-class post and 92.5% for second-class post in 2024-25.
The second-class mail delivery target is set at 95%. These targets were previously 93% for first class and 98.5% for second class but were reduced by Ofcom in April.
