In my experience as a hotel receptionist, I’ve noticed a common oversight that can significantly impact guests’ holiday enjoyment.
Being the primary point of contact for guests, I’ve handled a multitude of requests and inquiries, donning various roles from housekeeper to event planner for romantic proposals.
While we always strived to fulfill even the most unconventional requests, like late-night room decorations, there was one recurring issue beyond our control.
Despite repeated reminders, many guests overlooked the need to reserve tables at our two hotel restaurants – a casual pub and a fine dining establishment.
It was disheartening to turn away guests without reservations, only to see disappointment and frustration ensue when both eateries were fully booked.
Contrary to popular belief, staying at the hotel does not automatically secure dining reservations. The process mirrors that of any external restaurant, where bookings are essential, especially for peak hours and weekends.
Despite our proactive email reminders, many guests still arrived assuming instant restaurant availability, leading to inconvenience and discontent.
By planning ahead and reserving dining slots and spa treatments, guests can avoid disappointment and ensure a seamless experience during their stay.
Remember, even with a spa break package, it’s crucial to schedule treatment times in advance, particularly for busy weekend stays, to maximize enjoyment and relaxation.
