Swedish pole vaulter Armand “Mondo” Duplantis has debuted a new song titled “Gold,” in collaboration with World Athletics for the inaugural Ultimate Championship. The championship, set to take place in Budapest from September 11 to 13, will feature top athletes from various prestigious competitions like the Olympics, World Championships, and Diamond League.
Duplantis, a two-time Olympic champion and world-record holder in pole vaulting, expressed his passion for music by releasing his first single, “Bop,” in 2025. The track “Gold,” co-written by Duplantis with Carl Silvergran and Oscar Chase, aims to symbolize representing something larger than oneself, similar to the spirit of competition in sports.
The music video for “Gold,” filmed in Budapest, showcases Duplantis’s journey as a young athlete through archival footage. Duplantis shared that music serves as a form of therapy for him, offering a break from the intense world of sports.
“Gold” will be integrated into the broadcast and live-event experience during the Ultimate Championship, connecting fans worldwide. Duplantis is slated to perform the song live at the event’s closing ceremony. World Athletics President Sebastian Coe praised Duplantis for creating the championship’s anthem, emphasizing the event’s aim to highlight the talents and interests of top athletes both on and off the track.
The Ultimate Championship is set to become a biennial event, promising to showcase the best in athletics and create a platform for athletes to express their diverse talents.
