A pregnant woman was attacked by her jealous ex-partner who attempted to revive their relationship upon his release from prison. Kieran Walton, who had previously served time for assaulting the woman, visited her residence in an effort to reconcile, but things turned violent when he accused her of being involved with other men while he was incarcerated.
Following verbal abuse and provocation, Walton physically assaulted the woman by pushing her, biting her back, hitting her face, and choking her. The incident took place on January 18 at the woman’s home, where Walton, who had been in a relationship with her for about 18 months, unleashed his aggression.
During the altercation, the woman discreetly recorded Walton’s behavior, leading to a confrontation where he threw her phone, causing her to fall over a sofa. He then proceeded to bite her, strike her face, and restrict her breathing by grabbing her throat. The victim, who was 16 weeks pregnant at the time, sustained injuries including cuts, bruises, and a visible bite mark.
Walton, aged 35 with a history of 20 prior convictions, was sentenced to 21 months in jail after pleading guilty to causing bodily harm and intentional strangulation. The court highlighted the severe impact of even brief strangulation on a victim, emphasizing the terror it instills and the potential for unconsciousness or death.
In his defense, Walton’s lawyer mentioned that he is addressing his mental health issues and has a strong work ethic.
