The Irish boxer suffered his first professional loss as Crolla, the younger brother of former WBA lightweight champion Anthony, secured a seventh-round knockout victory at Planet Ice, Altrincham.
During the fight, Byrne knocked down Crolla multiple times, leading many to believe the match should have been stopped earlier. However, the referee allowed the bout to continue, resulting in Crolla’s decisive win, bringing his professional record to 10-1 while Byrne’s record now stands at 7-1-1.
After the fight, Byrne received medical attention in the ring before being transported to the hospital. Managed by his brother Jay Byrne, Glenn’s team provided an update stating he was in good spirits and awaiting the results of a CT scan.
