“Four Teens Arrested in Fatal Peterborough Stabbing”

Date:

Following a fatal stabbing incident near a shopping center in Peterborough, four teenagers have been apprehended in connection with the murder of a 16-year-old boy.

The police received a distress call just before 7pm last night, reporting an attack on a teenager in Riseholme, close to the Ortongate Shopping Centre. Despite being rushed to the hospital by emergency services, including paramedics, the boy succumbed to his injuries later that evening.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted by officers, with a police cordon established at the Orton Centre, as indicated by a report from Cambridgeshire Live.

A police statement revealed that four individuals were arrested following the tragic incident. The death of the teenage boy is being treated as a murder case, with two suspects from Peterborough, a 15-year-old boy, and an 18-year-old man, detained on suspicion of murder.

Additionally, a 17-year-old girl from Peterborough and a 16-year-old girl from March have been taken into custody on suspicion of aiding an offender and possession of a bladed article. All four are currently held at Thorpe Wood Police Station.

To facilitate police investigations, an area around the Orton Centre has been cordoned off, with an increased police presence expected in the vicinity in the days ahead.

DCI Richard Stott from the Beds, Cambs, and Herts Major Crime Unit stated that the incident was not believed to be a random attack. He urged individuals with relevant information or CCTV footage to come forward to assist in the investigation.

Stott expressed condolences for the tragic loss of the young man and emphasized ongoing communication with the victim’s family. He reassured the community that heightened police presence was planned to address any concerns.

Individuals with information pertinent to the case are encouraged to contact the police through the official website, utilizing the web chat feature, or by calling 101 and referencing Operation Whitby or incident 373 of Sunday, April 12.
