The family of Virginia Giuffre has issued a heartfelt request for King Charles to meet with them during his upcoming visit to the United States. Sky Roberts, Ms. Giuffre’s brother, emphasized that such a meeting would demonstrate solidarity with survivors, including those affected by the actions of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. King Charles and Queen Camilla are scheduled to begin their four-day visit to the US on Monday, during which they are set to meet with President Donald Trump.
Mr. Roberts and his family view this occasion as a prime opportunity for King Charles to allocate just 10 minutes of his time to meet with them, allowing them to convey their humanity and genuine emotions. Speaking on Newsnight, Mr. Roberts stressed the importance of the King of England standing in support of survivors, highlighting their proximity and presence at the same locations where the royal couple will be present. The family seeks a brief meeting to underscore their authenticity and sentiments.
In addition to attending a White House banquet as distinguished guests, Charles has been invited to speak at a joint session of the US Congress. A recent BBC investigation exposed that Epstein continued to house women in London apartments for an extended period following the Metropolitan Police’s decision not to investigate Ms. Giuffre’s initial allegations in 2015. Mr. Roberts criticized the systemic failures of both the FBI and the Metropolitan Police, asserting that heeding Ms. Giuffre’s complaint earlier could have prevented further years of abuse.
Mr. and Mrs. Roberts affirmed their support for a public inquiry into the allegations made by women in the UK against Epstein. Amanda Roberts, Ms. Giuffre’s sister-in-law, echoed the call for an investigation, emphasizing the need to delve deeper into the available evidence, especially in light of recent revelations concerning Epstein’s continued activities. The family is resolute in seeking justice and accountability.
Recent controversy emerged in Congress over reports that certain Republican members of a key committee investigating Epstein were considering offering clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former partner, in exchange for her testimony. This development has sparked debate and raised concerns regarding the pursuit of justice in cases related to Epstein’s criminal activities.
