The Canadian-produced hockey drama series, “Heated Rivalry,” continues to add star power as it gears up for its second season. Following a successful debut season with global acclaim, the show has now enlisted three new cast members.
The fresh faces joining the cast include renowned Ukrainian-American actress Milla Jovovich, known for her roles in the “Resident Evil” franchise and “The Fifth Element.” Also on board is Kevin Zegers, hailing from Woodstock, Ontario, with credits in productions like “Gossip Girl” and “Transamerica.” Joining them is Canadian actor Paul Gross, recognized for his work in “Due South” and films like “Men With Brooms” and “Passchendaele.”
The series, inspired by Nova Scotia author Rachel Reid’s “Game Changers” books, follows the clandestine relationship between two rival hockey players, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, portrayed by Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, respectively. Paul Gross is set to portray the hockey league commissioner, Roger Crowell, in the upcoming season.
Additionally, the production has cast several Canadian talents for the new season. Notable additions include Charlie Gillespie, Daniel Diemer, and Emily Hampshire from “Schitt’s Creek.” Hampshire, a close friend of the series creator and director Jacob Tierney, expressed her excitement about joining the cast and compared the show’s popularity to that of “Schitt’s Creek.”
“Heated Rivalry” recently dominated the Canadian Screen Awards, winning multiple accolades, including Best Drama. While the series is not eligible for this year’s Primetime Emmys, Connor Storrie has received a nomination for his hosting gig on “Saturday Night Live.” Season 2 of “Heated Rivalry” is currently in production and is scheduled to premiere on Crave in Spring 2027.
