Apple has commenced its latest WWDC Developers Conference at its futuristic headquarters in Cupertino. This annual event is where the tech giant unveils its upcoming software enhancements, and a significant update is on the horizon. iOS 27 is set to launch in the Fall, superseding iOS 26 as Apple’s newest operating system.
The new software will introduce enhancements like advanced customization options for the Liquid Glass design, improved file search capabilities, and a smarter Siri capable of composing emails, scheduling events, and assisting in booking tickets for upcoming events.
Apple assures that even older iPhone models will experience improved responsiveness with the introduction of a feature known as CPU Scheduler.
Overall device performance is expected to see a boost, with iPhone and iPad applications launching up to 30% faster, photos loading up to 70% quicker after capture, and AirDrop transfers speeding up by as much as 80%.
A notable addition aimed at parents with children using connected devices is a new set of intuitive features to manage content visibility, communication permissions, and access times for apps.
To quote Sumbul Desai, M.D., Apple’s vice president of Health and Fitness, “At Apple, our goal has always been to develop technology that empowers individuals, enhances their lives, and ensures their safety. Today, we are rolling out significant updates to help families establish age-appropriate protections and encourage healthy digital habits.”
