Kyren Wilson’s residence was broken into while he was competing in the Championship League Snooker event on Monday morning. Unbeknownst to Wilson, his home was burglarized as he secured a 3-0 win over Haydon Pinhey at the Mattioli Arena.
Upon discovering the burglary, Wilson promptly pulled out of the tournament. The former snooker world champion revealed that valuable items, including luxury watches, jewelry, and cash earmarked for a charitable donation, were stolen.
In a statement shared on his Instagram account, Wilson detailed the incident, mentioning the stolen items such as Cartier and Audemars Piguet watches, a ladies’ Rolex Datejust, and a sentimental blue sapphire necklace. The thieves also took £2,000 intended for the BeMoreFab Children’s Cancer Charity.
Wilson expressed deep distress over the incident, emphasizing the sentimental value of the stolen items. The matter has been reported to the authorities, and Wilson urged anyone with information to come forward.
As a result of his withdrawal from the competition, Pinhey, Dylan Emery, and Michal Szubarczyk received walkovers. Wilson’s next scheduled appearance will be at the Shanghai Masters beginning on July 27.
In a separate development, it was announced that Wilson, a former world No2, will participate in a snooker exhibition event in October to raise funds for the BeMoreFab charity. The event, organized by TWSportsManagement’s Taylor Wilson, will feature Kyren Wilson, Stuart Bingham, Joe O’Connor, and Louis Heathcote.
Wilson expressed pride in supporting the charity and encouraged participation in the exhibition to raise funds for children affected by cancer.
