Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have officially agreed to fight. The announcement was made by Saudi Arabian boxing chief Turki Alalsheikh on social media, with Joshua confirming that he has signed a multi-fight contract. Joshua is scheduled to have a warm-up bout against Kristian Prenga in Riyadh on July 25.
Fury recently made his return to the ring after a 16-month hiatus, defeating Arslanbek Makhmudov. Fury disclosed that he had already signed the fight contract with Joshua, who did not join him in the ring at the Tottenham event. If Joshua emerges victorious in his comeback fight without injury, the much-anticipated clash between Joshua and Fury is set for November, likely to take place at Wembley Stadium and to be aired on Netflix.
Joshua had planned to return to boxing in March following his win over Jake Paul last Christmas. However, his return was delayed due to a serious car accident in Nigeria. The 36-year-old has been training in Ukraine with champion Oleksandr Usyk, who believes Joshua will defeat Fury and become the undisputed heavyweight champion.
After defeating Makhmudov, Fury expressed surprise that Joshua did not engage in a face-off with him. Fury acknowledged the challenges both fighters have faced in their lives and emphasized the unpredictability of heavyweight boxing. Despite his eagerness for the fight, Fury voiced uncertainty about whether the long-awaited bout would come to fruition.
