Sky has introduced new smart home plans in the UK that offer internet-connected cameras with full cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. This pricing is significantly lower than purchasing a Ring system through Amazon, potentially saving consumers over £100.
The plans consist of two options. The first plan includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month with a £15 upfront fee. It features full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customizable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking additional security features, there is the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ priced at £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and enhanced app functionalities such as scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized that the aim of Sky Smart Home is to provide high-quality smart technology that is user-friendly, easy to manage, and affordable, making home connectivity effortless.
These new plans mark a shift for Sky, as their home security devices were previously bundled with Protect Smart Home Insurance. With the standalone availability of Sky Smart Home products, customers now have more flexibility in choosing their security solutions.
Comparatively, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99 with an additional cost for cloud recording access through a Ring Protect subscription, starting at £4.99 per month.
