The proprietors of a hotel are facing legal action after the death of a young woman on the premises. Liverpool City Council is pursuing a court case against Britannia Hotels following the tragic passing of Chloe Haynes, aged 21, at the Adelphi Hotel in September 2022.
After Chloe was discovered deceased in her hotel room, a probe was initiated by the council. Although three men were initially taken into custody on suspicion of murder, they were later released without charges as authorities determined her demise to be accidental.
Liverpool City Council’s Environmental Health department conducted an inquiry, which has now been finalized. The council has disclosed its intention to prosecute the Liverpool-based hotel chain for alleged breaches of health and safety regulations, as reported by Liverpool Echo.
A spokesperson for Liverpool City Council stated, “We have decided to bring a prosecution following an investigation.” Legal actions are being taken against two Britannia Hotels entities for purported violations. The proceedings are scheduled to commence on May 7 at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court.
In response to the legal proceedings, a representative from Britannia Hotels affirmed, “Liverpool City Council has initiated legal actions concerning the Adelphi Hotel, and we are cooperating fully with the legal procedures. Our thoughts are with the affected families during this time. As the matter is sub judice, we refrain from further comments at present.”
In September 2022, Chloe’s mother, Nicola Williams, expressed her determination to uncover all details surrounding her daughter’s untimely demise. Chloe, who had a twin brother and three other siblings, had traveled from North Wales to Liverpool for a night out. She was sharing a room with a colleague at the hotel, who found her lifeless and raised the alarm.
Describing her daughter, Miss Williams fondly recalled Chloe’s love for animals and her endearing nickname, ‘Birdy.’ Despite her external beauty, Chloe struggled with self-confidence, which made her inner beauty shine through. She was remembered as a kind-hearted individual by her mother.
