“Tragic Stabbing Victim Remembered for Bright Future”

Date:

The family of a young student who tragically passed away from multiple stab wounds has fondly remembered him as a bright and unassuming individual with a promising future ahead. Jamie Collins, aged 21, was discovered deceased in the garden of a residence on Cleve Road in Bristol. Described as gentle and kind, Collins, a student at the University of the West of England (UWE), was eagerly anticipating completing his studies.

Scheduled to return home to Swansea in a few weeks, Collins never made it back, leading to the arrest of his housemate, Zack Coughlan, aged 23, who was later charged with his murder and appeared in Bristol Crown Court.

Expressing their immense grief, Collins’ family highlighted his potential for a successful career in engineering and robotics and acknowledged the overwhelming support received from friends and the community during this difficult time. They extended their gratitude for the kind messages while they mourn in private.

The University of the West of England (UWE) expressed profound shock at the tragic loss of Collins, emphasizing his active involvement in student societies.

Detective Chief Inspector Lucy Edgeworth of Avon and Somerset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team acknowledged the profound impact on those who knew Jamie and assured ongoing support for the affected individuals.

As investigations continue in the vicinity of Cleve Road, Coughlan is set to appear in Bristol Crown Court on June 19, with a provisional trial date scheduled for October 12.
