Increased security measures have been implemented at the prison housing the notorious Southport child murderer, Axel Rudakubana. Rudakubana, 19, is serving a life sentence with a minimum term of 52 years for the murder of three young girls at a dance class. He is currently held at HMP Belmarsh in South East London under strict supervision.
Reports indicate that Rudakubana is under constant surveillance by at least four prison guards, following a previous incident where he allegedly attacked officers with boiling water. The killer is now only allowed to move within the prison accompanied by the guards.
A recent inquiry stated that the tragic 2024 stabbing incident, which shocked the UK, could have been prevented with proper intervention from relevant agencies. The report highlighted the need for better management of the teen’s behavior to avoid such incidents.
Concerns have been raised about Rudakubana’s unchanged behavior despite therapy sessions. Guards fear he poses a significant risk of committing further violent acts in the prison. Limited resources have led to Rudakubana being confined to his cell for most of the day due to the extensive security measures required.
In a recent incident, Rudakubana allegedly attacked two officers with boiling water, resulting in their hospitalization. The Ministry of Justice is investigating the matter. The parents of the victims have criticized Rudakubana’s parents, holding them responsible for the tragic events.
Legal representatives of the victims’ families are calling for disciplinary actions against individuals they believe are accountable for the tragedy. They are seeking swift action against those deemed responsible, emphasizing the need for accountability at all levels.
