“Meet Father Christmas in Lapland: New AirBaltic Flights from UK”

Date:

Families in the UK now have a new travel option to visit Lapland and meet Father Christmas this winter. AirBaltic, a Latvian airline, will introduce flights starting at £77 from the UK, enabling children to hand-deliver their wish lists to Santa himself.

The airline will commence these flights in December, with booking availability already open on its website. AirBaltic will operate five new routes to Kuusamo in Finnish Lapland from various European airports, including London-Gatwick and Manchester.

Finnish Lapland, known as Santa’s official residence, also serves as a prominent winter sports destination, offering snowy adventures for adults. Flights from London-Gatwick will start from December 13, running twice a week, while services from Manchester will begin from December 10 with weekly departures continuing until March.

Kuusamo features Pohjolan Pirtti, a popular attraction located around 30 minutes from the airport. Visitors can experience Santa’s charming cottage and fully immerse themselves in Lapland’s enchanting ambiance. The destination offers rustic cabins for kids to engage in cookie baking, witness elves crafting toys, and enjoy storytelling sessions with Santa beside a crackling fireplace.

An appealing aspect of Lapland travel is the assurance of a snowy landscape, providing a quintessential white Christmas experience. Visitors can partake in various activities like husky sled rides, snowshoeing, ice fishing, and serene forest strolls. Numerous winter attire rental services are available to ensure travelers stay warm with appropriate gear like overalls, boots, and mittens.

For enthusiasts of winter sports, Kuusamo offers ample opportunities to hit the slopes, with a lengthy ski season typically running from October to May. Ruka Ski Resort boasts 39 slopes, a snow coaster, and cross-country trails, along with options for night skiing to relish the tranquil nocturnal environment.

Another captivating experience in Kuusamo is witnessing the Northern Lights, a mesmerizing natural phenomenon visible from October to March. Travelers can join nighttime tours to prime viewing locations and even chase the Northern Lights while riding a reindeer sleigh for an unforgettable adventure.

Accommodation choices in Kuusamo range from cozy ski resorts and lodges to family-friendly hotels. Holiday Club Kuusamo, renowned for its tropical-themed indoor water park, and the adjacent vibrant Angry Birds Activity Park are particularly popular among families.

Ruka Peak stands out as a charming boutique hotel offering ski-in/ski-out convenience, traditional wood-paneled rooms, saunas, and balconies for guests to revel in the snowy panoramas.

For those seeking Lapland travel deals, several companies provide enticing flight and hotel packages tailored for budget-friendly trips to Lapland, including options from On the Beach, Loveholidays, TUI, and Icelolly.com.
