US President Donald Trump has reportedly informed Attorney General Pam Bondi that she is on the verge of being dismissed due to his frustration with the Epstein Files. Speculation surrounding her future in Washington DC has intensified, with Trump allegedly conveying to Bondi that her tenure at the helm of the US Justice Department is drawing to a close.
Bondi has overseen the Trump administration’s handling of the Epstein Files, a matter that has greatly irked Trump, who is extensively mentioned in the files. Trump’s confidence in Bondi is said to have waned following a congressional committee’s summons for her, supported by both Republicans and Democrats, to testify under oath as part of the probe into Epstein’s illicit activities.
It is important to note that being listed in the files does not imply guilt or awareness of the crimes associated with America’s infamous pedophile. Nevertheless, Trump’s name is mentioned in FBI documents concerning unverified accusations of child sexual misconduct against the President. The White House has vehemently dismissed these allegations as “completely baseless” and lacking any credible substantiation.
Reports suggest that Trump is contemplating replacing Bondi with Lee Zeldin, the current head of the Environmental Protection Agency. Zeldin, a former congressman and staunch supporter of Trump, notably defended the President during his initial impeachment proceedings.
The New York Times disclosed that Trump has not yet made a final decision regarding Bondi’s potential dismissal. Despite this uncertainty, Bondi accompanied Trump to the Supreme Court to observe oral arguments on his endeavor to eliminate birthright citizenship, which grants nationality to nearly all individuals born in the US regardless of their parents’ immigration status.
In an interview with the Times, Trump expressed admiration for Bondi, describing her as a “wonderful person” who is fulfilling her duties effectively. Additionally, US political news outlet Semafor reported that multiple sources indicated Trump had informed Bondi that her tenure as Attorney General was nearing its conclusion.
