United Airlines, a prominent carrier operating from the UK to various destinations worldwide, is set to introduce a new feature on its flights. This enhancement will involve a dedicated row of three economy seats that can be transformed into a lie-flat mattress-like space, offering passengers extra room and comfort during long-haul journeys.
The innovative seats will be individually adjustable, with leg rests that can be folded up to a 90-degree angle, allowing travelers to relax or sleep comfortably. Passengers will also receive a custom-fitted mattress pad, specially sized blankets, and extra pillows to enhance their in-flight experience.
In addition to these amenities, children in the designated row will receive a plush toy and a family travel kit. The introduction of the ‘United Relax Row’ is aimed at providing more space and convenience for families with young children, couples, and solo travelers.
The announcement of this new feature by United Airlines on social media platforms has been met with enthusiasm from passengers, with many praising the airline for its innovative approach. The United Relax Row initiative, scheduled to debut in 2027, will be a first for a North American airline to offer this level of comfort to economy passengers.
By 2030, United Airlines plans to extend this feature to over 200 of its Boeing 787 and 777 widebody aircraft, with up to 12 United Relax Row sections on each plane.
