“Affordable UK Staycations for May Half-Term”

Date:

The May half-term presents a perfect opportunity for a staycation. This period offers pleasant weather without the summer heat, and popular tourist spots are usually less crowded compared to July and August.

Families seeking UK getaways for the May half-term often consider options like Center Parcs. This holiday destination provides cozy lodges, beautiful natural surroundings, and a variety of activities to keep children entertained. However, booking a stay during the May half-term can be costly. For instance, a four-night stay at the Whinfell Forest venue in Sherwood Forest for two adults and two children is priced at £1,349. Alternatively, booking the same break a week earlier costs only £599.

If Center Parcs seems too pricey, there are several other affordable alternatives across the UK that offer similar accommodations and activities. Here are some budget-friendly options to consider for the May half-term, all based on a four-night midweek break starting from May 25. Prices are subject to availability and may vary.

Nestled in the picturesque Lincolnshire countryside is Tattershall Lakes, a sprawling 300-acre resort surrounded by tranquil lakes. The resort boasts a wide range of activities both on water and land, including high ropes, zip wires, an inflatable aqua course, indoor and outdoor swimming options, as well as bike rentals for exploring the scenic trails.

Accommodation at Tattershall Lakes includes caravans and lodges. The most affordable option for the May half-term is a four-night stay in a caravan priced at £542. Alternatively, you can opt for a Comfort Lodge at £737 or a Luxury Alpine Lakeside Lodge at £948 for the same dates. Some lodgings feature private hot tubs for a cozy evening retreat. Bookings can be made through the Away Resorts website.

Keldy lodges are tucked away in the forest, offering a serene retreat surrounded by nature. The Silver Birch cabin, the most affordable option for the half-term break, is priced at £895 for four nights. This charming cabin features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a private hot tub on the deck. Reservations can be made online via Forest Holidays.

The appeal of Keldy lies in its tranquil setting within the North Moors National Park, offering a peaceful escape for guests. The park provides limited amenities, allowing visitors to enjoy the forest’s serenity, whether it’s relaxing on the deck, cycling through the woods, or partaking in activities like archery and zip lining.
