Donald Trump commended the agreement reached following his prior warnings to potentially devastate a civilization, emphasizing the economic opportunities that could arise in Iran. The US President issued a statement following the approval of a time-limited truce with Iran shortly before the deadline he set for the regime to comply with his demands. Trump described the ceasefire as a significant advancement for global peace.
He mentioned that the US would assist in managing traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and highlighted the potential for financial gains through Iran’s reconstruction efforts. Iran, the US, and Israel agreed on a two-week ceasefire after a public appeal from the Pakistani Prime Minister to allow more time for diplomatic negotiations to reconcile the conflicting parties.
Before the eleventh-hour agreement, Trump had issued a stern ultimatum to Iran, warning of dire consequences if Tehran failed to reach a deal with Washington. Despite initiating hostilities and threatening severe repercussions, Trump lauded the conditional ceasefire as a pivotal step towards peace.
In a post on Truth Social, the President celebrated the ceasefire as a momentous occasion for world peace, emphasizing Iran’s willingness for the agreement. Transitioning to economic matters, Trump mentioned plans for US involvement in managing traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, anticipating profitable opportunities and the commencement of Iran’s reconstruction process.
The temporary ceasefire with Iran remains subject to conditions, and Washington has not yet confirmed participation in scheduled talks in Islamabad. Some elements of Iran’s proposed ceasefire plan have previously been contested by the US. Trump expressed optimism about negotiating on the basis of Iran’s ten-point proposal, noting progress in resolving past disagreements and proposing a two-week period for finalizing the agreement.
