British Attorney Dies After Overseas Cosmetic Surgery

Date:

A British attorney passed away shortly after receiving a Brazilian butt lift and liposuction surgeries overseas due to feeling pressured to maintain a slim appearance in the legal field, an inquest revealed.

Diarra Brown, aged 28, tragically died on October 26, 2021, following a four-hour surgical procedure at a private facility in Turkey. The inquest disclosed that the young lawyer had taken out a substantial £10,000 loan to cover various cosmetic treatments at the Private Memorial Hospital in Bahcelievler, Turkey, which included a Brazilian butt lift, liposuction, and an arm lift.

Reportedly, Diarra decided to undergo the surgeries after facing ridicule for her weight, aiming to boost her confidence. Although she successfully shed eight dress sizes post-surgery, going from size 18 to 10, she began experiencing discomfort mere hours after the operation on October 22.

Complaining of coldness, soreness, bruises, and severe pain, Diarra, from Wolverhampton, West Midlands, struggled with mobility and was advised by the surgical team, led by Dr. Sevket Gokhan Beyhan, that such symptoms were normal post-surgery and would subside over time.

Despite ongoing complaints of pain and physical limitations, Diarra was encouraged to move around, eat, and drink to aid her recovery. However, her condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to her readmission to the hospital for a change of wraps on October 25, where distressing symptoms continued to escalate.

Tragically, Diarra’s health worsened, and she eventually suffered a suspected cardiac arrest, succumbing to complications three days after the surgeries. The inquest suggested that the likely cause of her untimely death was sepsis.

Dr. Vanya Gant, a consultant in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases at University College London Hospitals, who reviewed Diarra’s medical records and post-mortem findings, confirmed that she had entered a state of uncontrolled septic shock.

In a statement shared by assistant coroner Kelly Dixon, Diarra’s mother, Daisy Brown, revealed that societal pressure to maintain a slim figure in the legal profession had influenced her daughter’s decision to undergo the surgeries. The inquest is ongoing, with more details expected to emerge.
