“Don’t Forget! British Travelers Face £55 Fee for Missed Check-In”

Date:

There’s a common error during check-in that might lead to an additional fee of £55 per person for British travelers at the airport.

When planning a trip abroad, there are various considerations such as choosing the perfect sunny destination, securing budget-friendly flights, suitable accommodation, and creating an appealing itinerary. Amidst the excitement and organization, there are crucial pre-travel tasks to complete.

These tasks include obtaining travel insurance, arranging for a visa, ensuring passport validity, organizing transportation to the airport, packing luggage, and arranging pet or house sitting. However, amidst these preparations, there is a critical step that travelers often overlook, resulting in an extra charge with Ryanair.

While passengers typically have their flight details accessible through the airline app or email, many forget to complete online check-in. For individuals flying with Ryanair, failing to check-in online incurs a £55 per person fee at the airport, despite the option of online check-in being free.

For a family of four, this oversight could amount to a substantial £220 expense before their journey even commences. This is an avoidable mistake that can be rectified by checking in online once the option becomes available.

Passengers with a pre-booked seat, usually at an additional cost, can check in online up to 60 days before their scheduled flight. On the other hand, those without a reserved seat, which is complimentary, can check in online 24 hours prior to departure and may select a seat for free if available.

To complete online check-in with Ryanair, travelers must possess a valid travel document such as a passport or National Identity Card. The airline has specified that they do not accept driver’s licenses or birth certificates for travel to any destination and advised passengers to review destination-specific regulations before departure.

Ryanair cautioned that passengers who fail to check in online must pay an airport check-in fee if they opt to check in at the airport within 40 minutes of departure.

Emphasizing the importance of online check-in, Ryanair urged all passengers to complete the process before arriving at the airport to avoid incurring additional fees.

Regarding airport check-in procedures, Ryanair mentioned that passengers must pay an airport check-in fee per traveler to cover the extra service costs. Detailed fee information is available on their website.

On the Ryanair website, it was highlighted that passengers who have checked in but cannot present their boarding pass on the app at the airport will receive a replacement boarding pass free of charge.

Additionally, it was noted that all passengers departing from Moroccan airports must complete online check-in as usual and then collect a complimentary boarding pass at the airport check-in counter.
