UK Braces for Late April Snowstorm

Date:

Snow and dropping temperatures are expected to affect regions of the UK, as per weather forecasts. Maps generated by WXCharts using MetDesk data indicate the likelihood of snow approaching the country in the coming days. The maps are now showing icy blue colors, suggesting cold conditions, with snowfall expected to coincide with freezing temperatures, dropping as low as -4C.

Despite being in the middle of spring, people in Britain have been facing lower temperatures than expected in the last two weeks. The Met Office has also pointed out the potential return of “unsettled conditions” by the end of the month.

WXCharts predicts that April 25 might feel more like a winter day, especially in Scotland and northern England. Snow is expected to start falling from midnight onwards, with a significant area highlighted in purple on the map, indicating snowfall across the Scottish Highlands, covering Aberdeen and the North East.

The forecast also shows a band of snow extending from the Scottish borders to Stoke-on-Trent, although it is anticipated to be light in areas from Greater Manchester to Staffordshire.

Alongside the snow, temperatures are set to dip below zero, with projections as low as -3C in the Highlands and Perth and Cross. In North Yorkshire, temperatures will reach -4C.

Stable temperature ranges are expected throughout the day, with temperatures ranging from -2C to 4C nationwide. The snowfall is predicted to persist into the evening before significantly clearing up in the North of England, according to reports from the Express.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast for April 21 to April 30 suggests the likelihood of “unsettled weather returning for a period” during this time frame. The forecast mentions that high pressure to the north of the UK will initially bring dry weather and sunny spells, with potential scattered showers in central and eastern areas.

There could be variations in weather conditions along the east coast compared to sunnier and warmer conditions in the west. Unsettled weather is expected to return by the weekend, with possible wintry showers and snow in northern and eastern areas, though this may not last long before high pressure attempts to dominate towards the end of the month.
