When it comes to managing our well-being, additional guidance and assistance can be valuable. Tesco, with over 360 in-store pharmacies across the UK attending to over half a million customers weekly, offers a range of health services. Customers can conveniently collect prescriptions, avail themselves of healthcare services, or consult with expert pharmacists while doing their regular shopping.
Balancing essential health checks with busy schedules can be challenging. Relying on online sources for health concerns can sometimes cause more stress than relief. “That’s why we provide prompt and convenient pharmacy services, expert health advice, and a variety of health and wellness products in our pharmacies for customers to access while shopping,” explains Tom Lye, Tesco’s category director for health and wellness.
From flu vaccinations to weight management services, Tesco’s in-store pharmacies serve as a go-to destination for friendly guidance. “A brief visit in-store can offer crucial reassurance or assistance to our customers,” mentions Tom.
In addition to offering treatments for common ailments like sore throats and UTIs, pharmacists can prescribe medicines for various conditions through the NHS Pharmacy First service, saving customers time by eliminating the need for a GP appointment.
For ongoing health issues, Tesco Pharmacists, trained by Cancer Research UK, Diabetes UK, and British Heart Foundation, provide information and support to reduce the risks of cancer, heart diseases, and type 2 diabetes. Customers can approach pharmacists wearing Let’s Talk badges for assistance.
“Our pharmacy teams are available for quick and friendly walk-in blood pressure checks to address any heart health concerns,” mentions Tom. Tesco Pharmacies have conducted over 9,000 free blood pressure tests this year, showcasing the positive impact of this service.
Not only customers but Tesco colleagues can also benefit from in-store pharmacy services. “Colleagues have access to virtual GP consultations and additional support for sleep therapy, nutrition, exercise, and mental health through the Employee Assistance Programme,” adds Tom.
