“Serena Williams Eyes Doubles Comeback with Canadian Partner”

Date:

Serena Williams has expressed her desire to receive a doubles wild card entry to partner with 19-year-old Canadian player Victoria Mboko at Queen’s Club in the upcoming tournament. This potential return to the court would mark Williams’ comeback after retiring four years ago, following a remarkable career with 23 Grand Slam titles.

Having re-entered the anti-doping testing pool in August last year, the 44-year-old has completed the mandatory six-month period, making her eligible to compete. Reports indicate that she has applied for a wild card spot in the pre-Wimbledon event.

Although Williams seems focused on doubles play at the moment, former tennis star Andy Roddick believes that she will eventually participate in singles matches at Wimbledon. He views the prestigious tournament as her best chance to relive her past success.

During a recent podcast, Roddick speculated, “When you re-enter doping protocols… you’re contemplating a potential comeback.” He emphasized Williams’ physical condition and suggested that Wimbledon’s grass courts could be her ideal setting for a successful return.

Roddick further predicted that Williams may also compete in singles matches, potentially even before Wimbledon. He highlighted the possibility of a motivated return, especially with her sister Venus still active in the sport.

Following an emotional farewell at the US Open in 2022, Williams shared her struggles with leaving tennis in a piece for Vogue. Despite admitting the difficulty of stepping away, she acknowledged her readiness for new endeavors, including focusing on her venture capital firm, Serena Ventures, and expanding her family.
