Buckingham Palace has officially started the process to remove the titles from Prince Andrew, including Duke of York, as confirmed by the royal residence. The Prince will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor instead of a prince, and he will be relocating from his Royal Lodge residence to private housing. The titles affected include Prince, Duke of York, Earl of Inverness, Baron Killyleagh, and the style “His Royal Highness”.
Furthermore, Prince Andrew’s Order of the Garter and Knight Grand Cross of the Victorian Order will also be impacted by this decision. The Palace stated that Prince Andrew has agreed to vacate Royal Lodge due to his association with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, which has sparked controversy.
Despite Prince Andrew’s denial of the allegations, Buckingham Palace has acknowledged “serious lapses of judgment.” In an official statement, the Palace announced, “Prince Andrew will now be recognized as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His tenancy at Royal Lodge, which has shielded him legally, has been terminated, and he will transition to an alternative private residence.”
The King initiated the formal process of stripping Prince Andrew’s titles and honors, a move that was reportedly not contested by Andrew. The Prince of Wales and the wider Royal Family are said to support the King’s decision in this matter. Pressure had been mounting on the monarchy to address the issue surrounding Prince Andrew, especially after a recent incident where the King was confronted by a protester.

Virginia Giuffre, a key accuser, alleged that she was coerced into sexual encounters with Prince Andrew on multiple occasions, including at locations linked to Epstein and Maxwell. Despite the allegations of involvement in inappropriate activities with underage individuals, Prince Andrew vehemently denies all accusations.
Formal notification was served to Prince Andrew to surrender the lease at Royal Lodge, with plans for his relocation to Sandringham in the near future. The King is expected to make private arrangements for his brother’s new residence, while Sarah Ferguson, his ex-wife, will also be moving out of the Royal Lodge to arrange her own accommodation.
