A prisoner from HMP Wandsworth, mistakenly released last Wednesday, is now the subject of a police manhunt. The Metropolitan Police was notified of the release of Brahim Kaddour Cherif, a 24-year-old registered sex offender, shortly after 1pm yesterday. Cherif was convicted in November 2024 for indecent exposure and received an 18-month community order, along with being placed on the sex offenders’ register for five years.
Cherif, an Algerian national, is believed to have connections to Tower Hamlets and is known to frequent the Westminster area. Commander Paul Trevers, in charge of the investigation, mentioned that efforts to locate Cherif have been ongoing since his release, urging the public’s assistance in finding him. The police have released an image of Cherif and bodyworn video footage from a previous arrest to aid in the search.
Authorities advise the public not to approach Cherif if spotted but to immediately call 999. Individuals with any information regarding Cherif’s whereabouts are encouraged to contact the police at 101.
