Iran’s Supreme Leader has issued a strong statement targeting Donald Trump and US forces. Mojtaba Khamenei commended his troops for confronting American and Israeli “arrogance” and warned of forthcoming “defeats.” He highlighted the exposure of his adversaries’ “weakness and humiliation” to the global audience.
Mojtaba, who assumed leadership following the death of his father Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during the US-Israel conflict with Iran, has been absent from public view since February. In a recent announcement through an Iranian state news agency, he praised his army for resisting America’s “sinister schemes.”
He emphasized the unity and strength of his armed forces against the leading armies of disbelief and arrogance, hinting at ongoing clashes with the US and Israeli forces. The statement included a declaration of readiness from the Iranian navy to inflict “new defeats” on their enemies.
Following Iran’s announcement of the re-closure of the Strait of Hormuz, reports emerged of Iranian gunboats firing on tankers attempting to navigate the vital waterway. Mojtaba concluded his message by conveying blessings to all members of the Iranian army and calling for divine mercy on martyrs and their families.
Iran’s joint military command confirmed the restoration of control over the Strait of Hormuz, under strict armed forces management, and vowed to uphold the blockade as long as the US maintained its port restrictions on Iran. Notably, two Iranian Revolutionary Guard gunboats engaged a tanker in the strait, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations center, ensuring the safety of the vessel and crew without disclosing further details.
